- Brushing
To keep your suede looking fresh, use a soft-bristle brush on it occasionally. Opt for a natural or silicone-bristled brush and avoid abrasive tools. Brush gently in the direction of the nap to maintain a smooth and uniform appearance.
- Allow wet suede to air dry without manipulating any stains
If your shoes have been soaked in water, it's best to let them air dry naturally away from heat. After they have dried, you can raise the nap
by using a suede stone or velour lint brush. Gently stroke the nap in the direction of the grain in areas that feel crisp to the touch to revitalize the hide.
Dealing with food and drink stains can be challenging. Instead of immediately rubbing the shoes with any nearby rag, blot the excess spillage lightly with a white handkerchief. Avoid rubbing, as it can damage the surface
and lift the color of the leather.
For oily stains, we recommend using white clay powder that helps absorb greasy spills. Apply a light coating to the suede and leave it overnight, then brush it off. Remember to seek professional
help from a reputable cleaner after taking initial steps to control the damage.
- Store
To keep your shoes in good condition, store them in our byJAMES bags in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help prevent the
leather from drying out and the color from fading, so your shoes will still look fresh when you take them out again.
- Leather Cleaning
To start, clean the leather by gently wiping it with a diluted mixture of water and natural dish soap. Let it dry before deciding if another round of cleaning is necessary. Avoid aggressive cleaning, as it may harm the leather's surface while successfully removing any residue.
- Moisturizing
To hydrate and strengthen leather, gently apply a thin layer of natural conditioner or oil, such as coconut oil, using a soft cloth. Rub it into the leather and remove any excess with a clean cloth. This process also provides protection against future contaminants. Initially, the leather may darken but will return to its original color once dry. Remember, leather conditioner is not suitable for metallic leather or suede.
